WORSHIP MINISTRY
Worship is best understood by the word worthship. Worship is ascribing worth on someone or something., and everyone worships something. God knows that life require a lot of focus on many things, yet He clearly communicates that nothing should come before Him (Exodus 20:3). The mission of Oak Grove’s Worship Ministry is to encourage people to put Jesus first and to worship with one another in one united voice. We believe that worship stands at the center of our faith, and that a life without worshipping God in all things and at all times is purposeless.
The Worship Ministry has an awesome responsibility: we are more than just musicians - we are worship leaders. We desire to inspire our congregation to praise God and enter into an expression of worship and a demonstration of praise. There is power in corporate worship, and when God’s people worship together, the Lord can move in an awesome way!

Ricky Johnson
WORSHIP MINISTER
Ricky has served as the Worship Minister at Oak Grove since June 2022. He has been married to Katy since March 2010, and together they have 6 kids: Jordan, Miah, Liam, Emilee, Raelynn, and Trey. Ricky received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Texas in Music, with an emphasis in piano, music theory, and jazz studies. He went on to study at Dallas Baptist University and received a Masters of Worship Leadership and is currently working toward his PhD in Worship Studies. Ricky also serves as the Artist in Residence at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where he leads and teaches the SWBTS and TBC Worship Bands.
